The Kent Rock Recycling Shed [using a smartphone, school-bag and a garage] is engaged in the business of collecting, storing and supplying the market with barcoded items from waste material — in response to ESwatini Environment Authority’s Waste Management Innovation Challenge; Stellenbosch University’s Zero-Waste-to-Landfill Strategy; and the Royal Science & Technology Park’s Sustainable Development Goals Innovative Enterprise Challenge: in the month of July [for the first time] the Kent Rock Recycling Shed managed to collect plastic bottles and cardboard from the The German Cooperative and Raiffeisen Confederation [this is the first organization to consider signing the Kent Rock Recycling Shed’s contract].
In response to the Sustainable Development Goals Report, the Kent Rock Recycling Shed’s business operations (solution) are geared to help the Kingdom of ESwatini accelerate its achievement of the SGDs — putting young women & girls between the ages of 18-35 at the forefront, encouraging curriculum based analysis & evaluation [the Kent Rock Recycling Shed continues to make use of the International Baccalaureate Diploma to guide the development & management of its innovative solution], highlighting ESG policies for responsible production & consumption, and designing strategic partnerships revolving around waste management practices & the circular economy to advance partnerships for the goals.
Crucial to the development of the Kent Rock Recycling Shed's solution from idea stage - to working prototype - to a registered enterprise --- is receiving funding and technical support from the Youth Enterprise Revolving Fund, ESwatini Environment Fund, the Small Enterprises Development Company, the Royal Science & Technology Park's Business Incubator, the Institute of Waste Management of Eswatini, ESwatini Economic Policy Analysis & Research Centre and the ESwatini Climate Change Youth Parliament [the Kent Rock Recycling Shed is currently 'mentally' challenged with navigating the organizations' corporate culture, investment appraisals and market research & development objectives].
In its latest round of applications for funding and technical support - in the month of July, the Kent Rock Recycling Shed advanced to the top 10% of applicants in the Entrepreneurship World Cup 2025; the Kent Rock Recycling Shed was also thrilled to be informed that its solution is being considered for the 2026 Zayed Sustainability Prize; and lastly - following an inspection by the Small Enterprise Development Company, the Kent Rock Recycling Shed is anxiously anticipating to be recognized as the Entrepreneur of the Year in the 2025 edition.
