August 2025: Division of Labour, the Gearing Ratio, the Subsidy, Human Resources and the Enterprise

Updated: Sep 12

ESwatini Environment Authority’s Waste Management Innovation Challenge is targeting young women & girls between the ages of 18-35: The Kent Rock Recycling Shed’s solution is looking to ensure that this target group [in its whole] registers its assets with the project to engage in the business of collecting, storing and supplying the market with barcoded items from waste material [the underlying question governing this exercise is “are there enough barcoded items from waste material in the Kingdom of ESwatini for the target group to collect, store and supply the market with 60,000 units annually {generating an income of E60,000 each year consecutively within this age group}]?

The market is currently dominated by informal traders - hauling recyclables without permits to the local buy-back centers and disregarding road safety precautions; in the case where the target group of ESwatini Environment Authority’s Waste Management Innovation Challenge could possibly sign contracts with nearby companies and other types of organizations – challenges in this market segment include internal employees [such as cleaners and grounds men] gathering recyclables to generate additional income: As the Kent Rock Recycling Shed continues to raise awareness about its solution to ESwatini Environment Authority’s Waste Management Innovation Challenge — the project highlights the importance of division of labour to maximize on the potential economic opportunity for young women & girls between the ages of 18-35 to collect, store and supply the market with barcoded items from waste material.

The Kent Rock Recycling Shed’s solution recommends the use of a smartphone, school-bag and a garage to engage in the business of collecting, storing and supplying the market with barcoded items from waste material: Young women & girls may already have one or two of these assets before deciding to begin trading with Lilangeni Recyclables LTD [the Kent Rock Recycling Shed’s proposed commercial entity] — the Kent Rock Recycling Shed recommends that the target group of ESwatini Environment Authority’s Waste Management Innovation Challenge to assume all assets are ‘financed through borrowed funds’ before trading with Lilangeni Recyclables LTD [this is to ensure that the task is handled academically and much more professionally than current prevailing market conditions].

In the month of August, the Kent Rock Recycling Shed received advice from the The German Cooperative and Raiffeisen Confederation to register its enterprise with the Kingdom of ESwatini as a Cooperative: to begin working on this assignment — the Kent Rock Recycling Shed revisited its International Baccalaureate Diploma Business Management Course Companion to understand the definition on concept of Cooperatives as a preferred type of enterprise for the project, and gathered a descriptive guideline from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Trade concerning the official registration of the enterprise with the Government of ESwatini [the underlying objective of the enterprise is to monopolize and make use of revenue from public toilets {air-pumps in gas stations and carbon credits} to cross-subsidize the collection, storage and supply of barcoded items from waste material to the value of E1.00 per unit of production {and this economic opportunity is to be limited to the target group of ESwatini Environment Authority’s Waste Management Innovation Challenge}].

The Mbabane National Library continues to play a pivotal role in the Kent Rock Recycling Shed’s quest for market validation — providing the project with invaluable resources including a stable internet connection, a desktop, books and newspaper to guide the development and management of its solution to ESwatini Environment Authority’s Waste Management Innovation Challenge; Stellenbosch University’s Zero-Waste-to-Landfill Strategy; and the Royal Science & Technology Park’s Sustainable Development Goals Innovative Enterprise Challenge.

Technical support and funding remain crucial to the development and management of the Kent Rock Recycling Shed’s solution — The United Nations Development Programme committed E9m for informal waste pickers and others, these funds were assigned to ESwatini Environment Authority to disburse: the Kent Rock Recycling Shed is however, experiencing difficulty in obtaining a comprehensive (integrated) report on  the use and management of this fund.
